"Brilliant kitchen refit in our ex-RAF house. William was patient with the awkward old layout and the finish is excellent."

A Breckland market town beside the River Lark, famous for the Mildenhall Treasure of Roman silver and inseparable from the long history of nearby RAF and USAF airfields.
About my work in Mildenhall
Mildenhall and the villages around it cover a lot of ground, and I cover all of it. The town's mix of older brick cottages, ex-RAF married quarters, Garrison housing and modern family homes means a varied week's work — kitchens and bathrooms one day, fences and sheds the next, plumbing and decorating somewhere in between. I'm regularly in Beck Row, Worlington, West Row, Barton Mills and Icklingham too. Send me a description of the job with a photo or two and I'll come back to you the same day with an honest quote and a sensible plan.
A short history of Mildenhall
Mildenhall sits on the Fen edge in the western fingers of Suffolk, where chalk meets peat. The river Lark is now barely navigable but was once an important route inland from the Great Ouse. Mildenhall's name goes back at least to the eleventh century, and the parish church of St Mary's is large and very fine, with a hammerbeam roof and a dramatic seven-light east window. In 1942, ploughing in West Row turned up the spectacular Mildenhall Treasure — a hoard of fourth-century Roman silver that is now one of the prize possessions of the British Museum.
For most people in eastern England, however, Mildenhall means aircraft. RAF Mildenhall opened in 1934 and has been continuously in operation ever since; since the late 1950s it has been a major USAF base, and the Stars and Stripes flying alongside the Union Flag is a familiar sight on the edge of town. The base, together with neighbouring RAF Lakenheath, has shaped the local economy and population profile for generations, with American servicemen and their families adding a particular flavour to the town. The market square has a fine sixteenth-century Market Cross. Modern Mildenhall is a busy, slightly sprawling place with plenty of family homes, both older cottages near the river and big late-twentieth-century estates. Garages, fences, kitchens and bathrooms keep me coming back here regularly.

Mildenhall handyman FAQs
Do you work on married-quarter housing around Mildenhall?
Yes — the ex-RAF housing at Beck Row, West Row and around the base perimeter all sees regular work from me. Most of these properties were built to good post-war standards but the bathrooms and kitchens are due for an update by now.
Do you supply materials or do I?
Either works. For small jobs in Mildenhall I'll bring everything with me. For larger projects most clients prefer to buy materials themselves so they can choose colours and brands; I'm happy to give a sensible shopping list and pick things up on your behalf if that's easier.
Will you tidy up after the job?
Always. I leave the house cleaner than I found it, and any waste leaves with me. Bigger strip-outs go to a licensed transfer station and the disposal is itemised on your invoice so there are no surprises.
How do I get a quote in Mildenhall?

I'll come back to you the same working day with an honest opinion and a no-obligation written quote. Most small jobs in Mildenhall can be priced without a site visit; larger jobs I'll come and look at first.
